Data Protection
Any personal information stored on this site will always be processed in accordance with the UK Data Protection Act 1998. I will only use the personal information you provide to deliver the services you have requested, or for my lawful, disclosed purposes. I will not make your personal details available outside our organisation without your consent, unless obliged by law.
Likewise, I am not able to provide any details to ecard recipients about users who have sent ecards from this site, due to the fact I am constrained by the Data Protection Act.
Ecards
When you send an ecard, the following information is recorded on a database:
- your (senders) name and email
- recipient's name and email
- date the card was raised
- card heading and body of the message
- your ip address
- information about the type of browser you are using (can be useful for statistics)
Guestbook / feedback messages
If you sign the site guestbook, or leave a feedback message on any of my articles, your name, email address and message are stored in a database.
Emails
If you send me an email, the details are stored in a database (because I have been known to accidentally delete emails!), and an email is sent straight to me.
Database info
Database info containing email addresses from site visitors is never disclosed to anyone else. You will never receive spam from this site. I sometimes reply to guestbook or article feedback messages, but I do not send unsolicited emails.
Ecard database data generally hangs around for about three months, at which point it is wiped, permanently. I keep stats on the volume of ecards sent, but I don't keep details about individual visitors.
Cookies
Cookies aren't used on this site, because I'm not intelligent enough to work out what to do with them. If I was intelligent enough to know how to use them, I doubt they'd be used to store anything terribly personal about you. Probably just things like your age, date of birth, address, blood group, religion, sexual orientation and full salary details.
