Viscount Combermere's statue / Police HQ

Viscount Combermere's statue / Police HQ

Viscount Combermere's statue, which is located outside the entrance to County Hall. The building on the left used to be Cheshire Police's headquarters. It was demolished in September / October 2006. 'HQ Chester is being build in its place. Swanky flats and offices. The huge concrete side wall of the old HQ was pretty amazing - it looks like something a good rock climber would have been able to scale.

Chester Cathedral

Chester Cathedral

Chester Cathedral viewed from the top of an old office block called Commerce House, which is next to the bus station. I really like this photo because it looks timeless, or, it would do if the angular lines of the library weren't there in the foreground. I like the wintery bare trees to the left of the cathedral. Once Commerce House has been knocked down, this will be a view that isn't there any more, unless you're hovering in the air, and if you were, you might not have the right weather or sunlight or time of year, and even then, assuming you were hovering, could you hover and take a photo at the same time? Who knows.
